Chicken Inn 0-0 CAPS United (80 mins)
THE deadlock remains unbroken at Barbourfields Stadium as Chicken Inn and CAPS United continue to battle for supremacy in their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter.
With 80 minutes played, neither side has managed to find the breakthrough despite creating several opportunities in an increasingly tense contest.
CAPS United will rue a missed chance in the 65th minute when Chawanangwa Chaonga squandered a golden opportunity to put the visitors ahead. Shortly afterwards, he was withdrawn and replaced by Davison Marowa as CAPS sought fresh attacking impetus.
The visitors continued to press and were handed a promising set-piece opportunity in the 72nd minute after Chicken Inn defender Itai Mabhunu committed a clumsy foul on Kundai Benyu just outside the penalty area.
Benyu stepped up to take the resulting free kick, but his effort lacked the power and placement to trouble goalkeeper Taimon Mvula, who gathered comfortably.
CAPS United made another tactical change five minutes later, introducing Tinotenda Meke for Bred Amidu in a bid to inject fresh legs into their attack for the closing stages.
Chicken Inn have remained resolute defensively, while CAPS United have looked the more threatening side going forward, although their finishing has let them down throughout the match.
As the contest enters its final 10 minutes, both teams are still searching for the decisive moment that could separate them.
