CAPS Utd defender bashes security guard

court heard.
July Gumbo, of 15 Long Road, North End, was left needing hospital treatment following the May 7 attack, Bulawayo provincial magistrate Nonkululeko Mkhonto heard on Tuesday.
But an out-of-court settlement meant charges of assault causing grievous bodily harm against Khanye (31) were withdrawn before plea.
In an affidavit submitted to the court, Gumbo said: “I have forgiven him as a friend and I want to maintain our friendship.”
Memory Robson, prosecuting, immediately moved to withdraw the charges against Khanye.
In a complaint filed with police, Gumbo said he was working at Silwane Tourism Safari at the North End shopping centre last Saturday when Khanye arrived shortly after 6pm.
The footballer allegedly accused Gumbo of getting his friends arrested over another assault, details of which were not provided.
Khanye, it was alleged, grabbed the security guard by the collar of his jacket and started punching him in the mouth and upper left eye. Gumbo lost three teeth – NewZimbabwe.com.
