A Harare car dealer on Saturday appeared in court after he attempted to enter State House, allegedly seeking President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s protection from suspected killers who were pursuing him.

Isaac Mugwagwa appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Jessie Kufa on trespassing charges. Mugwagwa is employed by Rhodes Car Sale, situated at the corner of 9th Avenue and Central Avenue in Harare.

It is the State’s case that on March 28 at around 3:30 am, Mugwagwa was arrested at State House as he tried to enter the restricted premises.

He became violent and grabbed Anthony Ngovera, a soldier who was on duty, demanding that President Mnangagwa help him, as he allaged there were people who wanted to kill him.

He was allegedly chased away but refused to leave the State House precincts, demanding to see the President.

He was then arrested by the police.
