THE multi-faceted Carl Joshua Ncube is licking his lips in anticipation of a successful 6th Transform Africa Summit (TAS) to be held in Victoria Falls from today to Friday.

The TAS is the leading African technology and digital event organised by Smart Africa which gathers over 5 000 delegates from more than 100 countries to engage on the digital transformation of the continent across diverse sectors.

The summit will be held under the theme, “Connect, Transform, and Innovate” and the focal points will be regulation and policy, digital infrastructure financing, capacity building and skills development, and digital continental trade.

Zimbabwe is part of the 36 members that constitute the Smart Africa Alliance and was selected against bids from other countries, making it the first country to host the summit outside Rwanda.

Carl Joshua Ncube, a digital strategist said the hosting of the TAS2023 could not have come at a better time as he is piloting projects for his Rural BnB.

“I’m ready for TAS23 and I couldn’t have asked for a better time than this. We have a lot of digital ideas to showcase to the people in attendance. On Tuesday (today), we will be launching our Application and we’ll be showcasing previews of it at TAS.

“We also hope to rope in Ministers from participating countries to begin bilateral talks with our government to push the rural tourism and technology agenda forward.

“We’ll also be showcasing an augmented reality demonstration of our low-cost easy to assemble hut, village board game, recycled material sunglasses, Hospitality Academy blueprint as well as the digital recipe book, ‘Chikafu’ We will be there to disrupt and be visible,” said Ncube.

The TAS23 will be officially opened by HE President Mnangagwa with other Heads of State are expected to attend.

In a statement, Minister of ICT, Postal, and Courier Services Dr Jenfran Muswere said it is a pleasure to be hosting TAS2023.

“As a member of Smart Africa, we are committed to ensuring that technology can change the lives of our citizens here in Zimbabwe and across the continent. We are cognisant that this cannot be done alone and therefore we are pleased to welcome the Smart Africa Alliance family to Zimbabwe’s prime resort city of Victoria Falls,” he said.

It will be a business week as the TAS23 will be running concurrently with the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) that kicked off in Bulawayo yesterday. – @MbuleloMpofu
