A security manager at Catercraft Private Limited, R.G. Mugabe International Airport, Tobias Mapanda (68) will perform 105 hours of community service after he was found guilty of criminal insult charges.
It was established that Mupanda insulted a junior female subordinate at their workplace. Mupanda was initially sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, of which three were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Another three months were also set aside on condition that he performs 105 hours of community service at ZRP St Mary’s.
The complainant in this case is Gracious Rutendo Munyaradzi (29), who knows Mapanda as her colleague.
It was the State’s case that on an unknown date and time in October 2025, at Catercraft RGMI Airport, Munyaradzi was performing her security duties in the guard room, accompanied by one Nyasha Utete.
The court heard that Munyaradzi was not wearing a company uniform, instead donning a three-piece suit.
The State proved that Mapanda entered the guard room and confronted Munyaradzi regarding her attire.
During the confrontation, Mapanda insulted her, stating, “You are a prostitute; you are looking for men.”
The court heard that Munyaradzi felt humiliated and degraded, prompting her to report the matter to the police, which led to Mapanda’s arrest. The accused acted unlawfully.
