CCC, politics of desperation

Prosperity Mzila-Correspondent

The country is drawing closer to the 2023 harmonised elections; a time when political parties get into a craze of election campaign, a time where people point out progress or lack of it in their constituencies as they decide on who to vote next.

Fortunately, the people of Zimbabwe are seasoned political participants who are not gullible as they demand proof of the achievements of five years in office.

For a political party and a politician who has delivered on their mandate, the work will speak for itself in the case of a re-election.

For political parties and politicians who sat on their laurels and told themselves that they will be voted into office by association, their ace card, an association with foreign friends and the empty promises which they give year in year out, disappointment awaits on the other side.

That the first half of 2022 has come and the country is already midway in the first month of the second half, this has thrown leaders of CCC into panic mode because despite the promises they have made in previous campaign, they are coming back to the voter empty-handed, full of empty promises.

A personal moment of truth has already told the leaders of that party that they have lost the election even before it has begun, because their opponent, the people’s party, Zanu PF, has been working overtime to fulfil promises made in the 2018 elections manifesto and has covered almost 75 percent of them.

This has thrown CCC leader Nelson Chamisa and his handlers into panic mode, devising every trick in the book to embark on a smear campaign against the ruling Zanu PF ahead of the elections.

The CCC’s latest act of desperation has been that of professional mourners, claiming dead people as their party members.

Mind boggling for a party that does not have structures within its party, one wonders how they are able to account for anyone when they lack even a register.

The latest act of this smear campaign machinery has been the Moreblessing Ali murder case, whose blame the CCC party apportioned to Zanu PF.

Indeed, we have heard of the saying that politics is dirty, but what CCC and its leaders are doing has gone beyond dirty to outright filthy.

All efforts by the CCC to oust Zanu PF by force have been nasty, destroying the people of Zimbabwe’s lives and their livelihoods.

In one video, Chamisa is heard bragging about his trip to the United Kingdom where he met up with outgoing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, whose recent resignation is marred with scandal, controversies and associations with people of questionable behaviours and characters.

In the video, Chamisa brags that the “rotten apple” Johnson had promised to implement his every whim such as the tightening of sanctions on Zimbabwe.

In his own words, “Ndakapiwa makey ekusunga kwese kunogona kuwanikwa mari nenyika yeZimbabwe, saka ndakakiya kwese,” while mimicking himself locking the doors, chanting, “Sunga one, sunga dozen.”

In his actions, he never even considered the lives and livelihoods of the layman on the streets who due to his call for further tightening of Zimbabwean sanctions are unable to access hospital services and securing employment due to the effects of sanctions on industry and the manufacturing sector.

Chamisa is well aware that when push comes to shove, the people will never vote for him and his gang of thugs, he knows he has no foot to stand on during campaigns, so his best bet is a smear campaign.

Members of the CCC party have been taking part in social media campaigns to discredit Zanu PF.

Chamisa’s actions to claim dead bodies only dishonour the dead by causing drama and mayhem at their funerals it is unAfrican and speaks volumes of his violent tenants.

The police should be on high alert as the CCC thugs are capable of causing sporadic violent acts and then turn around and apportion blame on the ruling party just to discredit the obvious victory that Zanu PF will land in 2023.

Meanwhile, leader of Zanu PF, President Mnangagwa, has been delivering as per promise.

He hit the ground running and since then he has not stopped.

Infrastructure development such as roads construction and rehabilitation, provision of health services through construction of clinics, housing for civil servants, drilling of boreholes to bringing clean and safe drinking water closer to the people, enhanced power generation are some of the efforts that President Mnangagwa has delivered to the people.

Also, the Beitbridge border post has been developed to meet modern standards, the US$153 million expansion of the terminal at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport and the construction of the new Parliament Building in Mt Hampden under NDS1 show the ability and passion that President Mnangagwa has in developing Zimbabwe.

Therefore, it is only correct to ensure he gets a second term to enable him to complete all his projects for the attainment of an upper middle income economy by 2030.
