Brian Bennett has become the second Zimbabwean batter to score a century against England in a Test match after Murray Godwin’s unbeaten 148 in 2000 and Andy Flower’s 112 runs in 1996 in Bulawayo.
The 21-year-old Bennett brought up his second career Test ton in the ongoing four-day Test match between the Chevrons and England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, the first red-ball meeting between the two nations in 22 years.
Bennett’s century came off 97 balls, the fastest for Zimbabwe in the format. He was dropped on the slips by Joe Root on 89 runs off a Ben Stokes delivery.
