What good is it to know rights that one cannot enforce?
As the economy of Zimbabwe grows and strengthens, more and more, people will get involved in economic activities and consequently rights may get infringed and people will want to seek recourse in the courts of law.
It is, however, unfortunate that the hour of need comes when one is least prepared for the financial obligations that go with enforcing one’s rights.
Even in private life, there are many situations that arise which warrant people to seek peace at the courts and it is this gap which Champions Insurance Company seeks to cover. Legal Aid Insurance was crafted to enable the majority of Zimbabweans afford legal representation. The product is intended to cover any Zimbabwean resident who has attained the legal age of majority.
The cover includes but is not limited to:
l Criminal cases
l Retrenchment/unfair dismissals
l Divorce cases
l Debt collection
Exclusions
These are perils that are not covered by the policy and they are as follows:-
l Traffic offences (those that are insurable under a motor insurance policy)
l Political cases
l Cases for which one has a previous conviction
l Old disputes/cases that arose prior to commencement of the policy
Premiums/Payment Methods
Clients can pay annual premiums in cash only and/or via payroll deductions or bank stop orders/debit orders for those paying in monthly instalments. We have made sure that the premiums are as affordable as possible.

All adult beneficiaries/dependants pay a discounted premium and siblings under the age of 18 are covered for free. 
Champions Insurance has negotiated for your convenience, various payment options which include:
l Annual payments
l Quarterly payments
l Monthly payments (by bank stop order and payroll deduction)
l Zimswitch (under installation in all branches)
l Ecocash (under test)
l SSB payroll deduction for civil servants
Service Providers
CIC has roped in reputable and vastly experienced law firms as partners in offering this product to the market.
It must be noted, however, that the discretion to choose a lawyer remains with the client.
Waiting period
There is no waiting period — cover commences upon payment of the first instalment.
How to access cover
i) Application Forms
Members are required to fill in their personal details, those of their beneficiaries and the sum insured chosen on the application forms and lodge them directly with the company or through their nearest branches.
ii) Presentations
The marketing team is geared for formal presentations to both the corporates and to individual members.
Claims Procedure
l Claim Forms
Clients are required to notify the company of any claims arising from the insured perils. Claim forms are obtainable from all the branches. The claim forms are then lodged with the company directly or through the branches.
l Authorisation letter
The company will then furnish the client with an authorisation letter that they take to the lawyer of their own choice for the rendering of legal services.
l Proof of Services rendered
Clients are required to forward to the company proof for services rendered after which payment shall be effected to the service provider.
