Changamire Hip Hop Festival will be taking its concept to various local universities in a bid to promote Zim hip hop artistes through the introduction of university tours.

Dubbed the “I Love Hip Hop New School Varsity Tour”, the Changamire Festival will be taken to Gweru, Bulawayo, Chinhoyi, Mutare and Zvishavane to afford students at the various universities a chance to be part of the event. This will also give the hip hop artistes the much needed exposure.

Bulawayo’s reigning King of hip hop Asaph, Coco Master, Crooger, Kikky Badass, Natasha Muz, Beav City, Fucci, Prince Albert, Ric Chasers, Chilz, Queen Vanilla, Munya Unruly, Young Pound and DJs Touch Jacha, Active, The Doc and DJ OBZ are some of the artistes who will be performing for the students. Zimboy and Yahwa Good Vibes will be the hosts for the festival.

The tour, which will run for a month, will commence at Midlands State University’s Zvishavane campus with a show at Vatican Club on Friday. The festival will then be held in Gweru on Saturday at the Pablo’z club.

Chinhoyi University of Technology students will be spoilt at Club Occasions next Friday while Nust students will have their turn on November 9 with an event at The Vista. This will be followed by another show in Masvingo the next day at Liquids Club. The last edition of the festival will be held in Harare at Damview on November 17.

Founder of Changamire Hip Hop Festival, Zimboy Jackson, said all was in place with the artistes ready to showcase their talent to new audiences across the country.

“We’ve secured the venues and artistes have confirmed their performances at all the shows. We realised that most people who are Hip Hop fanatics are youths with most of them at universities. This is why we decided to take the festival to them,” Zimboy said.

“We promise the students an improved festival compared to the previous ones.”
