LIAR, liar pants on fire!
Chaos has become the order of day at the Zvishavane Islamic Society as some congregants are fighting an Imam insulting and disturbing him during services accusing him of being a liar after he allegedly claimed that his daughter had died in a bid to raise money.
A Imam is an IslamicA religious leader.
The Imam Maxwell Phiri reportedly lied to other Islamic leaders during a leaders seminar in Harare saying his daughter had died and was given a funeral contribution of $300.
Unfortunately, it was discovered that Phiri had fabricated his daughteras death when one of the other Imams communicated with a Zvishavane congregant asking about the funeral update.
Since the day in question, some congregants started calling for Phirias suspension and have been disturbing his services threatening to beat him up.
Fearing for his life, Phiri applied for a peace order against congregants namely Maulana Kasimu, Latif Kasimu, Joyce Kasimu, Asewa Kasimu, Ismail Selemani, Miriam Phiri, Miriam Maluma, Patricia Saidi and Awema Mbwana.
Phiri stated that the respondents are hostile towards him as they insult and disrupt hisA services threatening to evict him from theA mosque.
He further revealed that his life and that of his family is now in danger as the respondents always threaten to beat him up and his family.
The respondents confirmed the allegations saying they insulted him because heas untrustworthy and corrupt.
They revealed that they lost respect for him after discovering that he had lied to other leadersA defrauding them in the process.
The respondents also said they no longer attend services as they now pray outside the mosque.
The presiding magistrate Shepherd Mjanja ordered the respondents not to disturb church services, assault or insult Phiri. He advised them to use the right channels in solving their problems.
