The day started with a road show in the suburbs of Chinhoyi: Cold Stream, Mupata, Gadzema, Chikonohono, Brundish, Gunhill, Cherima and White City where people were charmed by the booming sound of music from the Charambas interlaced with chants from DJ Dino.
Meanwhile, Sister Rudo Chimhene was warming up the stage together with Isaiah Manzvimbo before the Charambas made a grand entrance in their sleek white Nissan Teana escorted by four Mercedes-Benzes.
Once on stage the couple got the fans eating from their palm with up-tempo vibes interlaced with slow worship songs that brought people from frantic dancing to moments of serious thought as people started reflecting on their lives before being swept again into a revelling mood. The couple could not hide their happiness at the level of organisation at the show and would constantly point that to the crowd which numbered over 5 000 according to official figures.
Songs such as “Nyika yeZimbabwe”, “Komborerai Vana Vangu”, “Tauya Kuzomutenda” and the evergreen “Machira Chete” sent people into frenzy as they danced along waving their jerseys and apparel.
Pastor Charamba said he respects and prays for the prophets of God. “God sends prophets in every season and we respect the prophets of the Lord and we pray for them always,” he said to rapturous applause from the crowd.
Organiser of the show, Pastor Adonijah Nyakudya, said gospel music was important in uniting people from different denominations.
“The show was a huge success but showed above all that it had the ability to unify people from different churches under one banner of praising and worshipping the Lord,” he said.
