ITaS that time of the year when some women love to do their nails and manicurists are at every corner offering their services.
Nowadays there are cheap nails ranging from $3 for stick-ons, $5 for French tips and natural tips or colour tips going for $7.
The prices for manicure services seem to be declining every summer season and one wonders a?what is the differencea? as there are some manicurists who are still sticking to those old charges of $7 for stick-ons, $10 for French tips and $15 for natural and colour tips.
Of course, after analysing one can run to conclude that soon after the nail do, most of them look the same but wait and check after one week, it will be a different story.
It seems itas not only about the appearance, but there are health effects as well in the long run.
A manicurist Angel Madzipa said the push factor was competition.
a?There is now too much competition in the nail industry and it seems more women are becoming nail technicians,a? she said.
Naturally when the market is flooded prices go down and quality gets compromised.
a?Some of the technicians now offer cheap services because they buy cheap nails and glue. The glue they use is harmful to nails. Thatas the reason you find some people after a short period of time with damaged nails,a? she added.
Another beautician Fungai Moyo said the cheap stuff did not last long and was not value for money.
a?In as much as one wants to have good looking nails, they should consider whether itas worth it.
a?For example, you will find that cheap manicure does not even last a week so one is forced to do her nails every week costing $12 a month.
a?On the other hand, if you go to those that value quality and you pay off $7 a month you will have saved time and damage to your nails.a?
It is said that itas not healthy for one to always soak her hands in acetone as it damages nails and therefore it is advisable not to frequently change acrylic nails.
a?Some people also get their nails damaged as they rush to inexperienced manicurists who forcibly remove acrylic nails without soaking them, damaging their nails. Because of such activities, you will find that there are women who are now unable to do manicure because their nails got damaged,a she said.
Moyo advised women to have their nails done by people who have experience and good reputation.
a?It is better to have your nails done by someone who has experience and the right products so that they do not damage your nails,a? said Moyo.
