CHEATING CLAIMS ROCK MARRIAGE

A HARARE couple’s marriage is on the rocks amid cheating allegations.

Infidelity, and loss of affection, are some of the issues behind the marriage’s collapse.

Florence Mutasa approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against Taurai Mutasa.

Their case was heard before magistrate Sharon Mashavire.

Florence accuses Taurai of physical, and verbal, abuse.

“It’s now a year since he left home and he married another wife and they have a child together despite the fact that we are legally married.

“So, at one point, there was a funeral at our church and my church mate was driving my car and Taurai slapped me.

“In that fit of rage, he ordered my male friend to disembark and gave him bus fare.

“He later called me to return home and I refused. He also threatened to injure me,” said Florence.

In defence, Taurai said:

“She lied in her affidavit that we are divorced because she never served me with divorce papers.

“We are still together.

“It did not sit well with me when I saw her being driven by a stranger in our family car, I never assaulted her.

“I only gave the man money to leave my wife.

“Whenever we try to get help, she rejects the offers and I am sure she is having an extra-marital affair.

“I had to leave home because I was avoiding fights with Florence because she was even denying me my conjugal rights.

“She threatened that if I was to have sex with her, she was going to report me to the police that l raped her.”

Magistrate Mashavire granted the protection order in Florence’s favour.

Taurai was ordered not to physically or verbally abuse her.
