ARCTURUS High School utilised home advantage to book a place in the final of the Freddie Mkwesha Under-20 invitational soccer tournament at the weekend. The school will now meet Chemhanza in the final on October 31.

Arcturus beat St Dominic’s Nora 7-5 in a penalty shootout lottery after a goalless draw in regulation time. Chemhanza also prpgressed to final after another penalty shootout.

Several legends, including George Shaya, graced the tournament. Aaron Muchatuta, one of the tournament organisers, said the games were very competitive.

Our objective is to expose rural talent to Premier League coaches, academies, Division One coaches and player agents. “There is a lot of talent in the rural areas and we saw it fit to have such a tournament.

“The good thing is that we also managed to have some partners who came on board to support the event.

“We had iBoard Touch who donated iPads for the winners and we hope we will have more sponsors for the final,” Muchatuta said.
