OLYMPIAD Academy Chess Club and Dare to Dream Charity donated an early Christmas present to Batsirai Zimcare Special School in Dzivarasekwa.

Head administrator of Olympiad Academy, Tawona Magede, said it was important for the academy to give back to the community after a successful year.

“Initially we lacked resources, so we couldn’t land a helping hand.

“Now that we gathered resources, we came together with Dare to Dream Charity to further enhance their donation capacity.

“The team managed to donate about 950 articles of clothing, 700 books, cash as well as mealie meal, gardening equipment, biscuits and cleaning detergents.

“Special thanks to all the corporates, and individuals, who chipped in to help us with logistics for all the donations. “Sijeka Incorporation, and the team at Pulse Pharmaceuticals, as well as Hellenic Interact, who gathered the clothing and books.”

He said Olympiad Academy plans to extend assistance to the school.

“Olympiad Academy plans to facilitate the development of a hydroponics system into Batsirai’s agricultural system in the next two years.

“This is to empower Batsirai Special School to be self-sufficient, and perhaps even go as far as selling its farming produce to the community.”
