Chevrons fine tune for only Test against Bangladesh

ZIMBABWE have an opportunity to have a feel of the conditions ahead of the only Test cricket match against Bangladesh when they face that country’s Cricket Board XI at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Cricket Grounds in Dhaka, a fixture that starts on Tuesday.

The Chevrons arrived in the Asian nation yesterday and face the BCB XI as they fine tune for the sole five-day contest scheduled for the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh capital and runs from 22 to 26 February.

Zimbabwe will look to build on the impressive show they put up against Sri Lanka especially in the second of two Tests at Harare Sports Club that concluded in a draw. The Chevrons posted 406 in their first innings and went to declare their second on 247/7 but bad weather stood in their way of winning.

Birth of his first child has seen Test captain Sean Williams skipping the initial parts of the Bangladesh tour with Craig Ervine to lead the team in the five-day clash with the Tigers. Pace bowler Christopher Mpofu was rewarded for his brilliant display with ball in hand for Tuskers with a call up to the national team in the only squad Change from the team that faced Sri Lanka.

In 2018, Zimbabwe won the first Test by 151 runs and then lost the second by 218 runs for the series to end 1-1.

Zimbabwe Test squad: Sikandar Raza, Regis Chakabva (wicketkeeper), Craig Ervine(captain), Kevin Kasuza, Timycen Maruma, Prince Masvaure, Christopher Mpofu, Brian Mudzinganyama, Carl Mumba, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Ainsley Ndlovu, Victor Nyauchi, Brendan Taylor, Donald Tiripano, Charlton Tshuma
