THE presence of three former international players in the Zimbabwe national cricket team a the Chevrons a dressing room will go a long way in transforming the team into a competitive side, according to recently unveiled coach Heath Streak.
Streak was unveiled at the Queens Sports Club on Tuesday morning.
He will work with Makhaya Ntini, a South African cricket bowing legend and Lance Klusener, another former Proteas all rounder who was known for his aggressive batting style during his playing days.
Ntini and Klusener will remain as bowling and battling consultants respectively.
a?To have three international players in the national team change room is good for Zimbabwe Cricket. Makhaya will continue as the bowling coach, with Lance doing the batting part.
a?We will collectively work together. I will lend my experience since Iam an all-rounder and my knowledge of players will also work in our favour,a? said Streak.
Streak signed a two-year contract and his major task is to build a squad that will compete in the 2019 World Cup qualifiers.
The former Zimbabwe captain had a stint with the Bangladesh national team which he transformed to a competitive side as a bowling coach as well working with Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League.
He worked as a bowling coach for Zimbabwe under Alan Butcher between 2009 and 2013 and takes over from fired Dav Whatmore.
