IT might not be the epic El ClA?sico clash between fierce rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga but for prison inmates playing against yesteryear greats such as Ronald Sibanda, Johannes Ngodzo and Dazzy Kapenya it is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Prisoners will relish rubbing shoulders with Bulawayo-based Warriors and Premier Soccer League legends in an Africa Prisons and Correctional Services Day belated celebration match at the Khami Prison Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The legends collectively call themselves the Bulawayo 98 Legends Football Club. The team trains and hosts home games at the AmaZulu Sports Ground.
Club secretary general Herbert Dick said they had received an invitation from the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services to play against the inmates.
The legends team is made up of Sibanda, Ngodzo, Kapenya, Dick, Benjani Mwaruwari, Richard Choruma, Bekithemba Ndlovu, Philip Jambaya, Chipo Tsodzo, Siza Khoza, Master Masiku, Tirivaviri Sithole, Elson Phiri, Mayfield Daka, Thabani Masawi, Voster Chitema, Methembe Ndlovu, Nkosana Gumbo, Danisa Phiri, Johannes Tshuma, Sizalobuhle Dube, Castro Ndebele, Brian Moyo, Ian Manzini and Mike Dube, among others.
Because some of the legends are involved in coaching at different levels their attendance for games is determined by availability.
Ngodzo is head coach at Southern Region League club Bantu Rovers, Bekithemba Ndlovu is assistant to Kelvin Kaindu at How Mine while Methembe Ndlovu is co-owner and juniors coach at Bantu Rovers.

In Harare Premier Soccer League giants Dynamos played prison inmates at Chikurubi Maximum Prison as part of the Africa Prisons and Correctional Services Day last weekend.
