CHI-TOWN MUNICIPALITY TO PEG RATES IN US DOLLARS

H-Metro Reporter

THE Municipality of Chitungwiza has said it will peg its rates and services in United States dollars with effect from May 1.

Harare City Council also pegged rates in foreign currency towards the end of last year, much to the anger of residents.

In a statement, Chitungwiza Acting Town Clerk, Evangelista Machona, said Council will bill all services as approved by the budget.

“Please note that payments shall be paid in all currencies at the prevailing exchange rate.

“We implore those with outstanding balances to come and clear their Zim dollar balances, as all outstanding balances will be converted to United States dollars, on May 1,” she said.
