THE Premier Soccer League will this afternoon conduct the draw for the Chibuku Super Cup whose final has been set for October 31 at a venue yet to be confirmed.

The first round of matches have been set for the weekend of August 8-9.

In a communiqué released yesterday, clubs would be seeded according to their position on the table on match day 15.

“The top eight clubs (Position 1 to Position 8) shall be seeded and automatically positioned according to their log standing as at Match Day 15. The bottom eight clubs (Position 9 to Position 16) shall be fixtured against the seeded teams by public drawing of lots,” read the communiqué signed by PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele.

From the Match Day 15 league table, Chicken Inn led the standings with Triangle, Dynamos, How Mine, Caps United, Chapungu, FC Platinum and Harare City following in that order.

The bottom eight teams had Highlanders on ninth, followed by ZPC Kariba, Buffaloes, Hwange, Tsholotsho, Flame Lily, Whawha and Dongo Sawmill.

According to the format, the first team drawn from the bowl will play against a team that was on position eight on Match Day 15 and that is Harare City, last year’s losing finalists.

The second team out of the bowl will play holders FC Platinum, who were on seventh position and the order will go until the 16th team is out and that team will meet Chicken Inn.

The quarter-finals will be played on the weekend of August 19-20 with the semi-finals exploding into life on the weekend of October 3-4.
