WORK on the construction of the Chicken Inn Bulawayo drive-through has been completed and the facility is ready for opening, management said yesterday.

A drive-through business model offers a convenient way of placing orders with clients paying and receiving food without disembarking from their vehicles.

Business Chronicle met Warren Mears, the chief executive officer for the Chicken Inn parent company, Simbisa Brands, at the site next to the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) grounds yesterday.

“We’ve managed to complete the building and everything else is well within our budget of $1million and not $500,000 as reported by some newspapers,” he said.

“We even put in more than we had expected, like the ‘kids’ play area thanks to our brilliant project management team.”

Group finance director Salim Eceolaza said the facility would be opened in the next few days as all preparatory work was underway.

While officials were not keen to give the exact date, indications are that the opening of the facility will coincide with the Chicken Inn Football Club and Mamelodi Sundowns match at Barbourfields stadium tomorrow.
