Chicken Inn coy on Chikuhwa swoop

CHICKEN Inn head coach Joey Antipas has played down growing speculation linking former top scorer Lynoth Chikuhwa with a loan move during the ongoing mid-season transfer window.

Reports circulating on social media suggest Chikuhwa, last season’s Castle Lager Premiership Golden Boot winner, could be headed to Chicken Inn from Scottland, where he has endured a difficult spell marked by limited game time and form struggles.

However, Antipas insists no deal has been finalised.
“It’s a bit premature to talk about us getting Chikuhwa. But, we will be making additions to the squad in this window,” said Antipas.

The mid-season transfer window, which opened on July 1, will run until July 31, giving clubs time to reinforce their squads for the second half of the season. Chikuhwa, who netted an impressive 17 goals for Highlanders last season, has scored just once so far this campaign. A return to Bulawayo could offer the striker a chance to revive his confidence and regain regular playing time.
