Chicken Inn fined $5k by Caf

Senior Sports Reporter
CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League champions, Chicken Inn, were yesterday handed a $5,000 fine by Caf for their players’ behaviour during the Caf Champions League match against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in February.

According to Caf, the Gamecocks were fined for “offensive behaviour of players towards referee” in a game they eventually lost 0-2 to the Absa Premiership champions to bow out 1-2 on aggregate after shocking the expensively assembled South African side 1-0 in the first leg at Barbourfields Stadium.

Chicken Inn are one of 10 clubs that met the wrath of Caf for offences committed mainly towards match officials.

The Caf disciplinary board met in Johannesburg on April 18 to consider appropriate sanctions.
