ALGERIAN international Riyad Mahrez has no immediate plans of leaving English champions Leicester City amid rumours of a possible departure in the summer.
The 25-year-old has been linked to Arsenal, FC Barcelona and Paris St-Germain, but he has given something of an assurance that he is “very happy” at the King Power Stadium.
It was the first time that the PFA Player of the Year talked about his future.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m very happy. I’m proud to have this trophy. Some things are amazing,” reacted Mahrez when asked if he would stay at Leicester despite talks linking him to Europe’s big guns.
The club’s vice-chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, is confident that Mahrez will remain at the club in the face of claims by his agent, Kamel Bengougam, saying that “if the opportunity comes to play for a big team then we would’ve to think about it.”
Bengougam even went on to say that the possibility of his client leaving Leicester is “50-50 at the moment”.
Srivaddhanaprabha is insistent that Mahrez has assured that he wouldn’t leave Leicester.
“Even Mahrez, he said: ‘don’t worry I want to stay’. We’ve no policy to sell players,” said the Leicester vice-chairman. — SuperSport
