CHICKEN Inn have made an early statement in the mid-season transfer window after completing the signing of promising defensive midfielder Junior Makunike.

The 22-year-old becomes the Gamecocks’ first acquisition of the transfer window as the Bulawayo side looks to strengthen its squad for the second half of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

Makunike arrives with experience gained from previous spells at Dynamos, Simba Bhora and Hardrock FC, with Chicken Inn viewing him as a key addition to bolster the midfield.

The industrious midfielder has built a reputation as a disciplined and hard-working player, capable of breaking up opposition attacks, shielding the defence and bringing balance to the centre of the park.

His performances over the past few seasons have earned praise from coaches for his tactical awareness, composure in possession and ability to read the game.

Chicken Inn believe the signing reflects the club’s commitment to reinforcing the squad as they target a strong finish to the league campaign.

Makunike’s arrival could be the first of several additions as the Gamecocks seek to improve their fortunes during the second half of the season, with the transfer window now gathering momentum.
