charges.
The meat was valued at US$1 184.
Hillary Gwanzura (36), Joshua Sabau (33), Kudzanai Munyanyi (23) and Cyprian Mugandami (44) denied the charges while Tashinga Moyana (26) on Tuesday admitted committing the crime when they appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Babra Chimboza.
They were remanded to today for judgment.
Allegations against them arose on November 27 this year when Moyana went to Koala Park at around 11:40pm and met Gwanzura, a security guard manning the premises.
Sabau later joined the two and they connived to steal the meat which was in a refrigerated truck.
After 00.05 hours Moyana went to where the truck was parked and broke the seals.
He offloaded 480kg of the chicken cuts, which were packed in 32 boxes.
Gwanzura and Sabau helped Moyana to carry the loot to a secluded area.
At this point Gwanzura was moving around the truck as a disguise so that no one could suspect anything.
The next day Moyana met Mugandami who was driving a Toyota Hiace with registration number ABZ 0203 and they went to where the loot was.
They loaded the boxes into the kombi.
Moyana and Munyanyi then took some of the boxes to Zengeza 3 in Chitungwiza.
Moyana later hired the bus to carry the loot to Epworth.
He sold the meat to Brighton Muriwo who owns a butchery at Overspill Shopping Centre.
A police report was filed leading to the arrest of the five.
