CHAMPIONS FC Platinum slumped to their defeat of the season and surrendered top spot at Luveve yesterday.

Two first half goals from Bulawayo Chiefs’ Kundishora Chakanyuka and Moses Majika condemned Pure Platinum Play to what was also their first Premiership defeat since August last season.

The last time FC Platinum had tasted defeat in a Premier Soccer League match was on August 16, 2017 when the Zvishavane miners lost 1-2 to Caps United at the National Sports.

The defeat left FC Platinum on 16 points, three points behind Ngezi Platinum Stars who regained top spot courtesy of a 2-1 win over Mutare City at the Baobab yesterday.

A week after serving a sumptuous football dish in their 3-1 win over Harare City at Mandava, FC Platinum were stunned by a spirited Chiefs outfit.

Chakanyuka put the hosts ahead after 27 minutes and things got worse for FC Platinum three minutes from half time when big Cameroonian striker Albert Eonde limped off with an injury.

He was replaced by former Hwange gunman Gift Mbweti.

Majika’s well taken free kick curled beyond Francis Tizayi in first half injury time as Chiefs doubled the lead.

FC Platinum stand-in coach Lizwe Sweswe brought in the pair of Charles Sibanda and Never Tigere in the second half but Bulawayo Chiefs hung on for a famous victory.

Amakhosi Amahle are now on nine points after seven rounds of action.
