Chigubu to hold one-man show

The show will be on 15 September and will kick start his national tour pencilled for next month.

Speaking to Chronicle Entertainment on the sidelines of the LMFAO stand up comedy show on Saturday evening held at the Bulawayo Theatre, Chigubu said the live DVD would be available for fans of comedy to buy.

He said stand up comedy lovers should brace themselves for a day filled with hilarity.

“I am going to do my stand up comedy for the fans and during the show I will record everything. This is to have footage for people to see what I can do and for me to be more marketable,” said Chigubu.

He said having a DVD was a tool to reach as many people with his act as possible.

“The international stand-up comedians have DVDs of their acts and people buy them and now know them. Although I have never been to a live Steve Harvey stand up comedy show I know him from the DVDs I watch. So it is the same for me I want people to know me so that is why it is necessary for the performance to be recorded,” said Chigubu.

He said the national tour would begin in Harare after the Shoko Festival then to Gweru, Masvingo and end in Bulawayo.

“I will go to the Shoko Festival in Harare, then I will kick start my tour at University of Zimbabwe, then Midlands State University and I will finish my tour in Bulawayo for my people, in my home city,” said Chigubu.

The Shoko Festival will be held from 18 to 23 September.

He added that people should support the local talent that they have at their disposal.

Chigubu said his background as a performing artiste enhanced his act as a comedian.

“I used to do stage acting, so I know my way around the stage. I only started doing stand up comedy in 2010 when Tswarelo Mothobe encouraged me and it has been a wonderful ride. I will continue doing this because I enjoy it,” he said.
