Chikocho was invited to be a guest performer at the Tabernacle Miracle Church’s Youth Conference which is being hosted by Timothy Ngwenya.
The “Sunungura Mweya” star said she was happy to be part of the youth conference and hopes to learn from the experience.
“I am so excited to have been invited to perform at such an event and as a young artiste I hope to learn more from that experience. Gospel music is growing and I want to learn new things,” she said.
For those not in the know, Chikocho has performed with some of South Africa’s top gospel artistes in the mode of Sipho Makhabane and Sechaba.
Back home, the 27-year-old singer has staged shows alongside Shingisai Suluma, Kudzi Nyakudya and many others.
She made a huge splash on the mainstream music scene with the release of her first album titled “Sunungura”.
The album touches on hope, sacrifice, and praise and worship themes.
She is blessed with a brilliant mellow voice, which on its own makes her music all the more enjoyable.
“Sunungura Mweya”, according to Tyra is about redemption.
“There are a lot of tribulations that the world is going through today and the only significant to overcome is through following the Lord Jesus Christ,” she once said.
The six-track album has a medley of rhythms including African beats on songs like “Sunungura Mweya”, “Ane Rudo” and “Shamwari” among others.
To her credit, the album is laced by other voices that feature on four of her songs where she collaborates with artistes the likes of Ngoni
Kambarami and MacDonald “MacDee” Chidavaenzi, who are popularly known in Urban Grooves and Nyakudya.
The track “Nomufaro” which Tyra features Mac Dee is a nicely arranged piece.
She was inspired by South Africans Rebecca Malope, Deborah Fraser and the Charambas.
Chikocho was born on April 10, 1985, at Harare Central Hospital. She is a beauty therapist by profession and lives in Westgate.
Musically, she set herself high standards, which might prove difficult to beat in the long run or worse still, go down as a one-hit wonder.
