Child reports mum for baby dumping

The 33-year-old woman disappeared from the scene after realising her daughter had reported the matter.
The girl checked in the Blair toilet the following morning after discovering that her newly born brother was missing.
She discovered the baby wrapped in a sack and went to inform other villagers.
Mashonaland East police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thando Madhoyo confirmed the incident.
He said Vimbai Mujuru of Makumbe Village under Chief Musarurwa gave birth on December 7 at night at her homestead in the presence of her daughter.
“The girl suspected her mother had dumped the child when she noticed the baby was no longer there the following morning,” he said.
“She proceeded to check in the Blair toilet and discovered the body of a baby wrapped in a sack.
“Grace informed the other villagers who in turn called the police.”
Police attended the scene and retrieved the body, which they took to Sadza Hospital for a post mortem.
Mujuru is at large.
