THE Bulawayo Provincial Pool Association (BPPA) and Queens Pool Academy (QPA) partnership continues to bear fruit as Chillers Pool Club has become the first club to purchase a United Kings Pool Table under the scheme.
The landmark acquisition marks the beginning of a broader initiative aimed at improving infrastructure across Bulawayo’s pool clubs.
The partnership, driven by QPA, is focused on raising playing standards by ensuring that clubs have access to high-quality equipment. The project is expected to benefit multiple teams, with Raylton Pool Club already in the final stages of securing their deal under the same scheme.
Speaking on the development, BPPA vice- president Donald Wadawu expressed optimism about the initiative’s impact on the sport.
“This is a step in the right direction. Having professional-grade pool tables in our clubs will enhance the quality of play and help us develop more competitive players,” he said. QPA’s on-going efforts to modernise the pool scene in Bulawayo are gaining momentum, and more clubs are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to upgrade their facilities.
By investing in proper equipment, the city is poised to produce elite talent that can compete at national and regional levels. Meanwhile, in another exciting development, the Bulawayo Elite Pool League (BEPL) calendar is set to commence with a Bulawayo Elite Singles Tournament on 22 February.
The tournament will bring together the city’s top players in a battle for supremacy, setting the tone for the upcoming league season. The competition is expected to attract a high level of play, with elite contenders vying for top honours.
Organisers believe this event will not only provide thrilling match ups but also serve as a platform to showcase the growing standard of pool in Bulawayo.
With equipment improvements underway and high-profile tournaments kicking off the season, year 2025 is shaping up to be a transformative year for the pool community in Bulawayo.
