MINISTER of State for Manicaland Affairs Cde Mandi Chimene, who is also Member of the National Assembly for Makoni South constituency, set the ball rolling in the construction of a clinic in remote Nzvimbe community after officiating at last Saturday’s ceremony meant to raise funds for the project. Villagers in Nzvimbe community walk to a distant Chitenderano village for treatment.
The fundraising event was held at the site where the clinic is intended to be constructed.
“I have a health sector background because I was a nurse during the war and also I have got a passion for children because they are very unpredictable, one minute they are playing the next they are now well,” said Cde Chimene.
Cde Chimene said that the clinic is not the only project that will be developed in Makoni South constituency as she is also working on transforming Nzvimbe Secondary school into a boarding school.
In her speech, she also urged the people of Nzvimbe to eat more natural foods because they are a form of medicine.
Among other pledges made during the fundraising ceremony, Makoni Rural District Council chairman Mr Guy Matambura Mutasa pledged to provide river sand, quarry stones, 228 bags of cement as well as pay and inspect the builders who will be working on the project.
The Nzvimbe community has since amassed 52 000 bricks and had also assembled quarry stones.
