The High Court trial of business associates Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu resumes this afternoon, with Justice Pisirayi Kwenda expected to rule on whether the original goats supply tender document, pivotal to the US$7 million fraud allegations, can be introduced at this stage of the proceedings.
This decision has become a key turning point in a case linked to the Presidential Goats Pass-On Scheme, which has drawn significant public attention. Initially postponed to next month to address the contentious issue, the matter was unexpectedly brought forward after both the prosecution and defence agreed to an earlier date.
This agreement followed scheduling conflicts and the need for Justice Kwenda to carefully consider the defence’s legal arguments, which challenged the admissibility of the tender document. The stakes are high, as this document is central to the prosecution’s claims.
