China, Zimbabwe strengthen ties through media exchange

China and Zimbabwe bilateral relations are key to both countries shared future and exchange of ideas cements the friendship and cooperation between the nations.

These were the remarks by Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) president Mr Bin Wu as he welcomed participants to the Seminar for Media Professionals for Zimbabwe on Thursday here in Beijing China.

The Zimbabwe more than 20 media practitioners are led by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Zhemu Soda, accompanied by Chief Director Government Messaging and Programmes Mr Jonathan Gandari.

The seminar which runs from 7-20 May is designed to help Zimbabwean media practitioners gain a deeper insight into China, foster a fuller understanding of China’s current development landscape and Chinese modernization.

Mr WU said organising seminars such as these is part of Chinese effort to implement the four Global Initiatives and Promote high quality Belt and Road cooperation.

“The purpose of these programmes is to create a platform where officials from different countries can share experiences, exchange ideas and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

He said China’s open door policy as espoused by their leader President Xi Jingping is part of the country’s development agenda with other nations.

“This year marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five Year Plan.

“As Chinese President Xi Jinping said China will open its door even wider and further deepen exchanges and cooperation with counties.

In September 2025, China Zimbabwe bilateral relations were officially elevated to an all-weather community with a shared future, marking a new height in the friendship and cooperation between the two countries,” said Mr Wu.

Participants are drawn from public, private media houses and other key stakeholders.

The engagement is organised by The Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), an educational and training institution directly under the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.

Backed by the Ministry of Commerce and in close cooperation with China’s top think tanks, research institutes and universities, AIBO brings together a large number of China’s top experts and scholars to provide intellectual support for foreign aid training.

It has developed a number of high-quality foreign aid training projects in the fields of trade and investment, international economic cooperation, governance and public management, which have proved to be fruitful.
