This book, which will be launched soon, is Apostle Chingandu’s second publication and is a follow-up to “True Leadership” published in 2007.
“Repossess” is written in plain English and altogether carries 28 pages spread over five chapters.
These include “Shut Up Because of You”, “Authority”, “Divine Instructions”, “The Instructions”, “The Fullness of Time” and “Hearing the Long Blast”.
Looking at its content, one might be tempted to say it’s all about prosperity gospel and that it seeks to promote material prosperity ahead of spiritual development of Christians.
There are, however, indications that the author views the idea of material prosperity and higher spiritual development of believers as having a close relationship.
Then there is the idea that poverty and sin go hand-in-hand since poverty is used by Satan as a weapon against humans causing them to sin.
“Poverty is what makes people sin. The devil knows that when people are poor that is when they curse God,” reads a line from a passage on Page 9.
The author’s idea of repossession is perhaps one that is mind-gripping as it makes this book more than just a treatise about money and or material prosperity.
Depending on which angle you choose to look at it, you could perhaps say this book is one of today’s Christian motivational books that appeals to the young, adults and those individuals with a sense of ambition, prosperity and spiritual growth.
This group of readers may find in this book answers to questions on demon-induced material poverty and how they can apply Bible principles to lead a more fulfilling life.
It can be viewed as a book written for people who are discouraged by continual deprivation in order for them to search themselves through prayer and study before achieving a an improved standard of living.
It is also a book that challenges people to face their difficulties or drawbacks in life by learning to believe in themselves and making use of their God-given authoritative power to command or speak things into existence.
In this book Apostle Chingandu treats the concept “to repossess” as a type of spiritual battle and a season of change where people claim God’s promises through prayer in order to bring to reality their hearts’ desires.
According to the author, the object of this spiritual battle is to bring to reality aspects such as good health, prosperity, peace, joy, good marriage, freedom or satisfaction which are part of God’s inheritance for His people.
However, it is the author’s view that these aspects of inheritance are not being fully enjoyed by God’s people because of the role of the devil in causing both material and spiritual poverty among them.
Poverty is treated as a kind of spiritual restraint and also a type of instrument used by the devil to bring about all the problems facing the world today.
Aspects such as self-doubt, discouragements, poor prayer life and oppressive demonic spirits are explained as some of the obstacles preventing people from resisting the yoke of poverty imposed on them by the devil.
Other themes explored include spirituality, warfare, prayer, strength, courage and self-belief.
According to the author, these themes are in fact tools needed to equip people for the fight to reclaim their God-given inheritance.
Commenting about his work, Apostle Chingandu had this to say: “This book is directed at those who are tired of the life they are living. Those whose health, prosperity, peace, joy, marriages, freedom or satisfaction have been stolen.
“To repossess is simply to take back what belongs to you. Nothing in life is more painful than living in poverty whilst there is a will that says you are an owner of great riches.”
He said his decision to write this book was motivated by personal experiences and that his life had been characterised by weeping and lack of contentment.
Asked about his personal background, he said he was born in July 1984, married and blessed with a baby girl, Shalom.
He also said he and his wife Parity were co-founders of a Christian fellowship named Christ Kingdom Gospel Ministries International.
