A 24-year-old Chinhoyi man has been sentenced to three years in jail for attempted murder after he assaulted a neighbour who had lent him some money.
Byron Kachimanga of Matura Compound was found guilty of attempting to murder Jabulani Mamanokora (37) when he appeared before a Chinhoyi magistrate last week.

However, Kachimanga will serve an effective two years in jail after one year was suspended on condition of good behaviour.

The court heard that on September 15 this year, Mamanokora asked Kachimanga to pay back an undisclosed amount of money that he had lent him.

Kachimanga took an axe and struck Mamanokora twice on the head.

A medical report from a doctor who attended to Mamanokora was presented in court as part of evidence.
