NEWLY-FORMED community business platform, Chinhoyi Business Link (CBL), met with residents to outline their vision.

CBL, whose objective is to form a community rehabilitation centre for victims of drug and substance abuse, held an interface with residents at Chinhoyi Showgrounds.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) gave a lecture on domestic violence and the effects of drug and substance abuse.

Arid Chilembe, branch manager for Doves Funeral Services, who is also the founder and chairperson of CBL, said:

“The idea of forming the platform came after an orphaned and less privileged child, Taurai Mahwine, who was mentally ill, died.

“Taurai used to participate in every community programme despite his mental challenges.

“Doves offered its services in Taurai’s burial, and hence this concept was born,” said Chilembe.

He said they were touched by how the Chinhoyi community turned up to give Taurai a huge send-off.

He hailed the community and business for responding positively to the idea.

“We invited the police to give us lectures on drug and substance abuse as well as domestic violence.

“Assan Mtembo, an entrepreneur, gave us a lecture on how to start a business and how to link up as a business community,” said Chilembe.

Mtembo, a Chitungwiza-born businessman, who was the guest of honour, said there was a need for CBL to register with Zimra and meet all statutory requirements to make its operations easy.

He encouraged the platform to form various partnerships for it to grow.
