Chinyengetere disappointed with team performance

Chipangano are currently eighth in the race, 13 points away from log leaders Highlanders who sit at the summit unbeaten on 33 points.
Chinyengetere yesterday said Chipangano will not give up on their chase easily and believes they have the capacity to be challenging for honours this year despite struggling in the first 14 games.
“When we looked back at the results we were all surprised by the slump because we had started the season on a promising note. Nobody had expected that we could go through such a lean spell because we were all positive about this year.
“It was a bad patch and it’s impossible to point out where we really went wrong because the results were just not coming our way despite trying our best.
“It happens in football. This was supposed to be our season if you look at the preparations and the first few games we played this year.
“But we sat down as a team and talked about it and we made a commitment to step up our game. If anyone watched our last game against CAPS United you could see the determination. We want to finish strong and we are still aiming high.
“Highlanders are enjoying good form at the top but to be honest they have not run away with it as such. The race is still on and I think the second half will be more competitive,” said Chinyengetere.  
Hwange made a strong finish last season to earn club manager Tenant Chilumba the Coach of the Year award and they had hoped to continue with the momentum.
Everything pointed to be a bright season for Chipangano in the pre-season and with their good start in the Confederation Cup where they were taking part for the first time in over a decade, not many would have doubted them.
Chinyengetere tips the coal miners to come back strong in the second half of the season.
“The truth is we don’t belong were we are at the moment on the log standings. We should be up there and we are not giving up the fight,” said Chinyengetere.
It also looks like the Warriors forward will finish the season at the Colliery as his intended move to Bidvest Wits remains shrouded in uncertainty. Chinyengetere went for a trial early this month and is yet to get a response from the Absa Premiership side.
Zambian Aaron Katebe has also been to newly promoted Supa Diski side Chippa United and the outcome of the trial is still to be determined. Club secretary Burzil Dube said Hwange would see how things unfold in the next few days and ruled out beefing up their squad during the current transfer period.
“I think we have enough arsenal to see this season through. We will not buy new players because we have confidence in the squad. It’s only that there was a time we faltered but indications point to a bright future,” said Dube.
