Gospel musician, Charles Chipanga of the Charlenam Stable has promised to launch his second album titled “Goodness” this month. The launch is slated for October 23 in the capital and a number of local and regional artistes are set to perform.
“People should expect something unique. I do not want people to come and see what they have seen before, just a mere launch. I want them to see something different and should expect an exclusive approach to gospel music, live performance,” he said.
This is album number three in Charlenam Stable with the first album “Prayer Expose” done in (2011). It was followed by “Grace Moments” that his wife did as a lead vocalist. ‘‘Goodness’’ is the third under the stable and second for Charles.
“I use ethnic instruments like marimba, mbira, shackles, traditional drum and merge them with Saxophone to give it a percussive sound while the drum pronounces where my music is going. It is a traditional base with a little jazz feel that forms a combination of both worlds. If you like traditional stuff you find it in there while modern stuff is also on the release.
“The way I craft my music is that 10 years from now it will still make sense or sound good. It is lyrics first that have to make sense since I have five people to take care of.
“They include a person who believes there is Jesus, a non-believer, one who has been walking with Jesus for 40 years, a person who is trying to make a decision and one who disowned Him.”
On one of the songs, “Ndezva Mwari”, Chipanga worked with Pastor Charles Charamba and describes the combination as a good experience.
“It was a good experience, I just called him and he agreed. I wrote the song when I was in Form 1 and it did not go far so I thought of getting a second voice to try and push the message. He is very serious with his work, principled and I love working with him,” said Chipanga.
Tracks on the album include “Ruregerero”, “Mututu”, “Mwari Chete” among others.
