ZIMBABWE international defender Eric Chipeta has found a new home after he signed a three-year contract with South African Premiership side Ajax Cape Town yesterday. The Chippa United central defender underwent a medical in the morning, which he passed, before he was signed in the afternoon. The Warriors defender was elated with the move. “I think it is a good move for me and they are different from Chippa, they are a good and professional side and it is a good environment.
“This is a good deal for me.
“They have always been interested in me and I flew to Cape Town on Thursday and had the medicals this morning (yesterday). It feels good to get a three-year contract after my initial two-year contract with Chippa and I promise to work harder for my new club next season,” said Chipeta.
The defender has been consistent for Chippa. The player’s rise has been some sort of a fairytale as he made his debut Premiership with Hwange in 2012 from lower division side Sprouting Football Club owned by businessman Calvin Nyazema.
Nyazema, who is also the player’s manager, said Chipeta has made a good move. “Ajax Cape Town is obviously a bigger club and he will be exposed even to international clubs. “Chippa was a stepping stone,” said Nyazema.
