Children living with albinism were earlier this week treated to a fun-filled day out at the Longchen Plaza’s fun park area where they also received handouts. The event saw underprivileged children drawn from all corners of Harare mixing and mingling with other children living without the condition. The fun day was organised by Alive Albinism Initiative and sponsored by Nyaradzo whilst the handouts that included lotions, sunscreens sprays and sun glasses were donated by UK-based philanthropist Mollin Delve.
Mollin Delve whose organisation has been supporting women and children from black ethnic minority backgrounds will be distributing the handouts to all the country’s 10 provinces.
Worship (10), who benefited from the exercise, said he was grateful after being remembered.
“I am happy because our sister Mollin Delve has remembered people like us back home and we are forever grateful for what she is doing to us,” he said.
Talent (12), who claimed to have never used any of the lotions even if it’s a major requirement for her skin, said she is relieved.
“At least for now I can treat my skin for a while. I am thankful that I will protect my skin for the time being,” she said.
Alive Albinism Initiative director, Gwenlisa Marange Mushonga hailed the visiting Mollin Delve for her individual efforts in helping the albino community and has called on other corporates to assist them.
