A 22-year-old Chipinge woman is facing murder charges after she allegedly stoned her husband to death following a domestic dispute.
Chipinge district police spokesperson Ass Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera confirmed the incident which occurred at Mushakavanhu Village under Chief Mutema last Friday.
It is alleged that on March 13 a feud arose between Bidnock Matoro (28) and his wife, Petula Marimbechi.
“The misunderstanding emerged after Petula had asked her husband for some money to buy food. This did not go down well with her husband Bidnock resulting in a heated argument between the couple.
“The deceased subsequently assaulted his wife. In retaliation the wife picked up a stone and struck the husband on the left side of his ribs.
“Bidnock then took the same stone and charged towards his wife who escaped into the bedroom and locked herself inside. After trying in vain to force open the door, Bidnock just walked away in great pain. He was later found by his wife lying helplessly alongside a river bank calling her. She went back to call for help but they found him dead,” said Asst Insp Kadzuraumera.
In an unrelated incident, a 14-year-old Form 2 Devuli Secondary School girl was found dead in a bushy area in Birchenough Bridge recently.
