PETER PASI, a paedophile based in Chitungwiza who thought he could easily prey on children by disguising himself as a prophet, will spend the next 20 years of his miserable life in the slammer.
The 40-year-old mampara, who is the typical ravenous wolf in sheep’s clothing, was convicted of rape by Chitungwiza regional magistrate Mrs Gloria Takundwa.
It was proved that on June 16, in the serene village of Chirasavana, Chief Seke, Pasi closed in on his unsuspecting victim — a 15-year-old girl attending a church service — and told her she needed to be exorcised of evil spirits through three days of prayers.
Believing in his false piety, the innocent girl took the bait and returned the next day for her so-called spiritual cleansing.
The charade took a dark turn when Pasi led the girl into a bush, asking her to find a Muhacha tree.
There, under the guise of a sacred ritual, he spread a red cloth on the ground, covered her face and instructed her to lie down.
What followed was an act of pure evil.
Pasi violated the girl under the pretence of casting out evil spirits, silencing her cries with the isolation of the bush.
But this charlatan’s heinous scheme unravelled when the brave girl confided in her neighbour and grandmother, leading to his arrest and trial.
Thanks to the diligent work of prosecutor Ms Pamela Dzinduwa and the firm hand of justice delivered by magistrate Takundwa, Pasi was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
For his disgusting abuse of trust and heinous actions, all he will probably be familiar with until he turns 60 are the insides of the prison wall.
