THE new Zimbabwe Rugby Union director of coaching, Brighton Chivandire has commended the coaches who attended the Zimbabwe International Rugby Board Level Two coaches course.
Chivandire who has hit the ground running in his new role, told our correspondent that coaching needed to be updated all the time as the trends of the game were always changing.
He said he was happy with the coaches who attended the course which was recently held at Prince Edward School.
“There are some young and promising coaches in the country, we need to encourage them to continue working hard because the game is also changing,” said Chivandire.
Those who attended the course include Zimbabwean Sables and Cheetahs players Daniel Hondo and Graham Coleback.
Chivandire said the Union’s focus was on spreading and developing the game.
“We’re excited to seeing former players joining us in this course,” said Chivandire.
“It shows that the game is in good hands as we’ve former players feeling the need to take part in such important steps of further developing the game.
“This also shows that players are developing well and to have them take rugby coaching as their development pathway, is fulfilling.”
Sixteen aspiring and established coaches attended the skills improvement course.
Four were from Bulawayo and 12 from Harare.
