US-BASED Zimbabwe gospel artist, Reverend Togarepi Chivaviro, is unstoppable!
The Ebenezer hit-maker won an Inter-Continental Music Award over the weekend for his song “Kana Wakayambuka”.
He is one of the continental winners as he earned the feat in the Best of Africa-Sungura category. This year, organisers opened the platform for artists from various genres across the globe.
“I am proud of myself and the team I worked with to record the song Kana Wakayambuka, it’s not easy to be recognised and achieve such an award.
“The honour represents the strength and resilience of our creativity that has been recognised on such an esteemed platform,” said Chivaviro.
He said he was using the chance to take his music to greater heights.
“When we entered the song we knew it had the possibility to win because of its Sungura/Dendera feel which is dynamic and represents a true Zimbabwean sound.
“This is a step up the ladder as we strive to reach a bigger audience internationally,” he said.
The InterContinental Music Awards organisers are based in Los Angeles, US, and evaluated music entries from all the five continents based on ethical perspective. Ever since he shifted his base to the US, Reverend Chivaviro seems to be making strides after almost seven songs have been certified by TuneCore for surpassing the 10 000 streams mark across all platforms.
