ZIMBABWE has received over two million doses of the Cholera vaccine as the country continues measures to curb the spread of the disease.
Zimbabwe recorded a cumulative 21 230 suspected Cholera cases, 2 368 confirmed cases, 20 552 recoveries, 71 confirmed deaths, and 405 suspected deaths as of January 28 since the outbreak began in February last year, according to the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

The outbreak has affected Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Malawi mostly, in the Sadc region.

In a post on X, the Ministry of Health and Child Car said: “The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Harare Province Hon CZ Tawengwa officiated at the official launch of the Oral Cholera Vaccination Campaign at Kuwadzana Polyclinic. The name of the vaccine received is Euvichol Plus. Zimbabwe got a donation of 2.3 million doses from the International Coordination Group. The country has received around 900 000 doses so far. The 2nd phase is expected on 5 February 2024.”
