Choose your career wisely

has been chosen it is almost impossible to travel back and choose a different one.
Exceptions might be there though, but they always come with sacrifices. Robert Frost also alludes to this in his poem “The Road Not Taken” that no matter how much one wishes, if a different career had been chosen it is irreversible. It’s therefore paramount to choose your career wisely.

When you finish school, your whole life is ahead of you. Some students ooze with confidence and hope for a better future after passing. Most of the students choose Mathematics with the hope of becoming an engineer or Biology to become a doctor. Some students are devastated after failing to attain grades necessary to pursue these two careers.

However, engineering and medicine are not the only career streams on this planet. You have hundreds of career options to choose from. It all depends on your passion and interests. If you are not passionate in your chosen career, you’re not going to be successful in it.

Obviously, you will have pressure from your parents in your career stream. Some parents force their children to choose a career which they are passionate about or the one they think pays more. But it’s completely a wrong thing for parents to tell their children what they should do in life. Children should explain to their parents about their interest.

As much as choosing a career is stressing it should also be an enjoyable experience.
The next step is to go out and familiarise yourself with certain jobs. Ideally, you need to see everything, because this is a big decision that you are making. Some companies would never have employees if they showed all aspects of the job to a person looking for a new career, but if you fail to conduct inquiries and end up with a miserable bunch of people, then what excuse can you give?

If you want to be a model but you don’t know what is involved then you need to do a research before you take the plunge.

What would you do if you made the wrong career choice because you failed to check things out?
Nothing is easy. Anything that is too easy is probably useless.

There are some fantastic people out there who have faced all the challenges that were thrown at them on the journey to success. What you need to do is to identify those people and understand how they made it.

As much as imitating others who came before you is helpful do not seek to copy each move, because the dynamics would have changed.

“I really wished I was good at talking to people because this is important in my line of work,” said George Matambanadzo, a sales representative for an insurance company.

So look for a career that suits your character. One cannot have a career which deals with the public daily when you cannot interact with people from all walks of life.
