Choto joins Trumus

FORMER Highlanders and How Mine Football Clubs player Brighton Choto has found a new home at the Victoria Falls-based Zifa Southern Region Division One side, Trumus.Choto, a central defender whose dream partnership with his namesake Brighton Dube failed to click at Bosso despite so much promise in the reserves, was offloaded by How Mine, who are playing in the Orange Caf Confederation Cup.

“Choto will be playing for us, we are left with just a few minor issues to iron out on his contract but otherwise its  a done deal,” said the Victoria Falls side’s organising secretary Tafadzwa Mutowa yesterday.

He could not reveal the length of Choto’s contract. The resort town side wants to make a huge impact in the league and probably bring top flight football to Victoria Falls. Most teams there have come in just to make up numbers in the second tier league with now defunct Intundla and Kujatana the only teams to have really made an impact. Former Zifa Southern Region chairman, Morgan Dube used to play for Intundla while Mandla Mpofu was the coach at Kujatana during the times that they were a force to reckon with.

Choto is expected to stabilise the defence. Meanwhile, newly promoted Kabwe Warriors from Makwika Village in Hwange will soldier on in the league despite not having a sponsor.

This was said by club chairman Francis Mwinga soon after casting his vote in the Zifa regional elections held in Bulawayo yesterday.
“It’s going to be hard indeed but we want to soldier on, we have no sponsor and any team in our situation would gladly welcome some assistance,” said Mwinga, a Makwika and local league legend in Hwange.
