Chris Brown denied entry

Chris Brown was denied entry into Canada on Tuesday and forced to cancel two shows on his Between The Sheets tour.

The 25-year-old singer tweeted that he wouldn’t be performing on Tuesday at the Centre Bell in Montreal and yesterday at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

“Unfortunately I will not be able to perform in front of sold out crowds in Montreal & Toronto,” Brown tweeted to his more than 14 million followers on Twitter.

“The good people of the Canadian government wouldn’t allow me entry. I’ll be back this summer and will hopefully see all my Canadian fans!” he also tweeted. Brown later deleted the tweets.

Concert promoter Live Nation tweeted on Tuesday that “due to immigration issues” Brown’s show in Toronto with R&B artiste Trey Songz and rapper Tyga was cancelled with refunds available at point of purchase.

The “Kiss Kiss” singer was jailed for nearly three months last year for violating his probation by getting into an altercation outside a Washington hotel the previous year.

He was on probation after he attacked pop singer Rihanna, his then-girlfriend, before the 2009 Grammy Awards.

Nicole Perna, a spokeswoman for Brown, confirmed to The Associated Press that Canadian immigration officials denied him entry.

In 2010, the United Kingdom denied Brown entry into the country, forcing him to miss four shows.

The British government’s Home Office said then that Brown had been refused a visa because of his past criminal record.

Canada Border Services did not immediately return messages seeking comment on Tuesday.

Canadian authorities can prevent a foreign national from entering the country if convicted of certain offenses outside of Canada.

Canada’s border agents have access to the US National Crime Information Centre database, which allows them to see any conviction dating back to a US traveller’s 18th birthday. – Dailymail.
