Chuchu clears the air

Faith sect led by Madzibaba Daniel.
Chuchu said he was shocked to read yesterday’s edition of The Herald where his name was mentioned, by an elder in Madzibaba Daniel’s church, among some of the football people who have sought guidance from that sect.
The former Dynamos midfielder coached the Glamour Boys for two years before he left the club at the end of last season, having led them to the group stage of the Champions League and losing the league championship because of an inferior goal difference. Chuchu left when it emerged that the Dynamos leadership had been negotiating with other coaches, without his knowledge, who were being lined up to replace him.
Yesterday he said his coaching methods, just like the life he has led since 1998, have been based on his Christian values.
“I’m a Christian, a born-again man since 1998, and I read the bible from morning to sunset, from Genesis to Revelations, and I have never looked at a person as a means of bringing me closer to my Lord,” said Chiweshe.
“I don’t know Madzibaba Daniel and while I have heard about him, I have never seen him because I never went to their services.
“I believe in my Lord, in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and I pray to my God all the time and that’s how I have been living my life, since 1998, and how I was coaching my team.
“I don’t look for God facing a certain direction but I simply pray and I eat pork, virtually everything, but I read my bible and I fast and I believe.
“When I was at Dynamos I never asked the players to do what I do because I know we are different and I think my two years were good because even Jesus Christ didn’t force people to follow him.
“Those who followed him, and believed him, were blessed but he never forced anyone to follow him.”
Chuchu, who has assumed a low profile, revealed that he used to believe in all sorts of things before he was born again.
“Ndaibikirwa doro inini, ndaipfekerwa machira but I changed and all that is now in the past,” said Chuchu.
“My life, just like my coaching, is based on my Christian values and what I read in the bible is what I believe in and that’s how I try to shape my life. “Right now I am reading the book of Isaiah and if you read it, you will see that the Lord will show you the hidden treasurer.
“So my connection to my Lord is through Jesus Christ and I have never gone to people saying that they should be the link between me and my Lord.”
Chuchu said he felt hurt when he read that he was one of the football personalities who had sought a helping hand from Madzibaba Daniel.
An elder of the Apostolic Faith sect told The Herald on Wednesday that a number of people within the domestic football family, including Chuchu, have sought help from Madzibaba Daniel in the past.
But Chuchu said he had his way of looking for divine help and it did not involve going to Madzibaba Daniel.
